You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

Thank mistress, it's not that. It's that I've had deadline demands made I don't think I can keep with the kids and my health and I know my mh is failing now.

In some regards I want to be back at work as normal. I do have a healthy respect for the risk of getting this virus to my lungs though so I feel caught between a rock and a hard place. It taps into a lot of other stuff too.

Saucery · 02/07/2020 11:25

The separation on school buses is just like when smoking was allowed only at the back. As if it never drifted forwards 🤦‍♀️

WhyNotMe40 · 02/07/2020 11:26

Demo using a visualiser would work and I e heard about a school putting up a couple of mirrors

FrippEnos · 02/07/2020 11:27

From the guidance for practical lessons.

"Resources that are shared between classes or bubbles, such as sports, art and science equipment should be cleaned frequently and meticulously and always between bubbles, or rotated to allow them to be left unused and out of reach for a period of 48 hours (72 hours for plastics) between use by different bubbles."

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 11:28

Sorry personal post. I know everyone is focussed on the guidance right now, but I could really do with a bit of advice.
Does anyone know if we have to tell our school if someone is taking civil proceedings against you?

Gosh I'm not sure but it might be helpful to do so? I'd speak to a union.

tadjennyp · 02/07/2020 11:29

That would be my liberal use of mini whiteboards out then. Or sod it and just do it anyway.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/07/2020 11:29

We are not allowed to ask for proof of a negative test. So if someone is sent home with symptoms they can come back 2 days later still with symptoms and say they’ve had a test and we have to take them.

Bit confused that early it says we can’t go home if we’ve been in contact with someone who has symptoms then later you get this:

Public Health England health protection team. Schools must ensure that staff members and parents/carers understand that they will need to be ready and willing to:

book a test if they are displaying symptoms. Staff and pupils must not come into the school if they have symptoms, and must be sent home to self-isolate if they develop them in school. All children can be tested, including children under 5, but children aged 11 and under will need to be helped by their parents/carers if using a home testing kit
provide details of anyone they have been in close contact with if they were to test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) or if asked by NHS Test & Trace
self-isolate if they have been in close contact with someone who develops coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms or someone who tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19

Wtf?

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 11:29

The faith and trust these guidelines have in older pupils to maintain distance is heart-warming.

Have they ever met any?

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 11:30

Oh, the reason why our slt said Friday is that I think the send guidance is Friday.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 11:31

I feel miserable.

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 11:33

All the art, music, dt and science equipment is shared with us.

There could be minimal dividing out of stuff but not enough to deliver the curriculum especially for some stuff.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/07/2020 11:34

I laughed at how we mustn’t ‘create’ busy corridors. Obviously we were intent on doing that before and we must cease. There are at least 20 classrooms on the top floor corridor I’ll be working on in September and it’s probably 6ft wide.

Saucery · 02/07/2020 11:35

Me too, Piggy. I love my job, it’s a second career for me and a large part of it is related to my previous career. It is so rewarding. But I can’t put my family and their health before it.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 11:35

So, you still stay at home following a negative test. Cripes.

plasticboxesrock · 02/07/2020 11:40

Me too, Piggy and Saucery.
Sad

Appuskidu · 02/07/2020 11:53

Come come now-I’m sure you can make all of the corridors quiet with more of a ‘can do’ attitude!
Cookiecrisps · 02/07/2020 11:57

I am really angry it has taken this long to release the guidance and this is what it says. I have now been put in a job share instead of being able to deliver my subject as a PPA teacher because my head said we won’t be able to mix bubbles in September. I know this seems petty in the grand scheme of things but I have been so stressed out about this and now I’m unlikely to be able to swap back.

tadjennyp · 02/07/2020 11:59

The full 14 days piggy Shock That is going to cause havoc! What is going to happen to those of us with young children if their bubble bursts? Unpaid leave?

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 12:01

Everything is safe!

But not brass, wind, choirs, contact sport or experiments.

Only those things.

Saucery · 02/07/2020 12:10

Alexa is trolling me. Asked her for 70s Rock and the first 2 up were Highway To Hell and Paranoid. Hmm

TheHoneyBadger · 02/07/2020 12:11

Nope because they specify family members don’t have to isolate unless that child develops symptoms. So not sure who’d care for the child as their teacher parents have to go to work?
TheHoneyBadger · 02/07/2020 12:13

Oh I see. Yes unpaid leave presumably. We get 1 paid day of parental leave then it’s unpaid. Half a months salary gone.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 02/07/2020 12:13

Shitshow

TheHoneyBadger · 02/07/2020 12:15

I can’t afford to lose half of my part time salary as a lone parent Confused Surely there’ll have to be some kind of intervention? Parents can’t just lose 2 weeks pay every time one of their children’s boobles burst
