Notice period

Hello, I'm a teacher working one day a week. My husband is off on this day to look after my ds1 and 2. He lost his job last week and has managed to get another one but cannot have a day off in the week. My 1 day obviously isn't going to work. I feel awful about it but obviously want to earn money for our family. What is a typical notice period?

Do you mean, when can you resign? If you're at a state school in England, you've just missed it. May 31 is deadline for resigning this year. The next deadline is 31 October to finish at Christmas. Of course, you could explain the situation to your headteacher and see if they'll accept your resignation, or you could put DC into childcare for that one day per week?

@MsJaneAusten thanks for your reply. Yes, I mean when can I resign. We have tried nurseries, none have availability due to covid restrictions. I feel so stressed trying to find a solution.
