Just before lockdown, a lot of pupils and staff at my school were unwell with coronavirus-like symptoms. Now a lot of us are returning FT I’d really like to have an antibody test. Do you think the government might roll it out to us soon? Or are we likely to be bottom of the list as usual? Just guessing I know, but interested in what the rest of you think.

Until there is greater clarity on the quality and duration of any immunity conferred, then I think it is unlikely that the tests will be widely rolled out on NHS.

I didn’t think there was a reliable one available yet.

NHS staff are receiving them now, but only staff not their families. I know this because one of the parents at our school who has been sending her kids in to school as keyworkers kids has just found out that she has the antibodies for it showing she has had it. Neither her or her children have shown any symptoms. But she cant get her kids tested (for free anyway). I also know of a small private school in London who have paid for all their staff to have the antibody test.
