A query about eligibility to teach

Hello, hoping someone can give me advice - if I have a degree in a subject and did teacher training in England (but a long time ago) am I eligible to teach my subject up to and including A-Level?
Do you have to have current GTC membership in order to apply for a job?
(I'm a teacher but in a different place and asking for a friend)
Thank you

I'm going to bite:

If your friend is fit to be a teacher in the UK they should be capable of making their own enquiries.

If they're not, they're not.

However:

That was useful thanks and gave me an email which is what she couldn't find - sorry should have said she is in another country and trying to contact the department of education at a rather busy time didn't get her anywhere!

Did she complete her NQT year? If not she will have to do that. Just completing a pgce is not suffice.

And of course specs & methods will have moved on since your friend did teacher training

Thank you, yes she did teach after qualifying, but as you say things will have changed! She's confirmed she's trying to prove her teacher status to an employer overseas rather than returning to get a job here.
Where I am, I know I'd direct enquiries to GTCS so wasn't sure how it worked in England (she definitely trained in England)
