You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

ChloeDecker · 24/05/2020 15:49

Typo! 10s and 12s-oops!

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2020 15:51

Phew.

Are you back on site then?

Maybe the secondary guidance will land on Bank Holiday Monday....

TheHoneyBadger · 24/05/2020 15:53

Denmark pays high taxes in exchange for excellent public services and they invest heavily in these. As I recall they also have low net wage differences between workers therefore people do the jobs/professions they are drawn to rather than some being high status and others shittily paid and unable to attract quality candidates. That would include childcare and teaching.

There is literally nothing meaningful to be compared from such totally different systems.

If they want Denmark quality schools and childcare and adaptability they need to pay Denmark levels of taxes. Much like if you want private school standards you need to pay the fees.

pinkrocker · 24/05/2020 15:57

Strawberry I didn't read that bit as meaning they had to stay in squares!
No I didn't mean it like that either. But when you explain to your class that you've had to measure out their classroom in squares to make sure everyone can SD, there will be some that take that absolutely literally and ask which one is theirs. I've had a (lovely!) Y1&2 class that would have taken the squares as absolute rules.

IHateCoronavirus · 24/05/2020 16:28

I took the numbers to mean bubbles of 8 and no more than 16 children within the setting. In other words two bubbles of 8 I’m one eyfs room.
3-5 yr olds have always needed 2.3 m squared/per child so each bubble will need 8x 2.3 m squared.
I do think it is very open to interpretation though and I can very much picture our eyfs fearing head taping off individual squares. Sad

IHateCoronavirus · 24/05/2020 16:28

Saying that our plans to date have five bubbles of ten sharing the same space so maybe not!

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2020 16:31

Yay : John Gordon Sinclair sticking up for us on Twitter! I love him!

ChloeDecker · 24/05/2020 16:37

Are you back on site then?
Head wants us back in to ‘prep’ from 1st June but in stages (so couple of faculties in one building having meetings, whilst other faculties help prep classrooms in another building and swap the next day etc to help with socially distancing. Head was hoping for more guidance by now and is happy to alter the plans during that week if and when they do come through.
From 8th June, wants to have 10s in mornings and 12s in afternoon (won’t have to worry about lunch/canteen socially distancing) but again, could change if guidance says it should. Idea is that when you are not with 10s or 12s, you are doing what you can with remote learning of 7s to 9s.

Maybe the secondary guidance will land on Bank Holiday Monday....

Ha ha, ain’t that the truth!

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2020 16:37

Caring for any child is obviously reasonable. Surely any teacher would want to ensure they are safe at all times. Politically motivated attacks on good teachers is discreditable, yet it didn’t stop your hypocritical cronies

Caring for your child is obviously reasonable. Surely any parent of a three year old would want to ensure they are safe at all times. Politically motivated attacks on a good father are discreditable.

RigaBalsam · 24/05/2020 16:54

Haha love it piggy.

SleepymummyZzz · 24/05/2020 17:05

My gosh, every last tiny bit of respect I had for BJ has just gone. Heaven help us England 😔

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/05/2020 17:07

The lack of wraparound care really is a pain for us. Although it does amuse me that our school aren't providing it when the same kids who attend keyworker care are also the same ones who attended breakfast club. I thought it might be down to the staff who ran breakfast club maybe being shielding members of staff, but they are the ones who will be running the keyworker bubble from the 1st so I might approach the school and ask if or when they think breakfast club might reopen. Nothing to lose by asking. Currently DH is going to be going in to his work late on days where he isn't in charge in the morning so I can be at work on time. My school has agreed a late start and early finish but it does make a huge difference as the pupils I am there for have had half an hour without support before I get there and it can be problematic to get them on task. Heaven knows what I will do if work insist I finish on time and there are either no after school clubs or relaxing of lockdown enough for my usual friend to collect the children.

WhyNotMe40 · 24/05/2020 17:07
