Shared parental leave

Have any teachers used Shared Parentsl Leave?
I have read about the possibility of returning to work at full pay during holidays to maximise paid leave, but was wondering if anyone had been brave enough to try it?

Hi! Just found this thread and was wondering the outcome? In the same boat myself!

I do know someone who did it, don't know her personally but sister works in my school. If I'm ever in position I will def be looking into it. I had baby in June 2018 so couldn't do it as baby too young. Hated missing summer pay as after all I had worked most of the year for it. The system is unfair.

I did and didn't even consider it being "brave"! I had my DS in March and went back to work on the first day of the summer holidays. HR helped me organise it and for the longest time I thought there would be a catch and I would have to do at least a day in the school building but nothing of the sort had to happen,

I would recommend it, I loved the extra time as a family unit but did struggle going back to work in September- I did receive quite a few critical comments about it too but I think I was just unlucky there!
