Let's boycott all school threads outside of Education

Honestly guys we are getting a kicking on other threads. We repeatedly have to explain our contracts, holidays, why we are not doing more online, why we should be doing less on ...... it is never ending. So far we have been off for the Easter break plus a max of two weeks. There is a lot of the population that do not need childcare. We are open for key worker children but that gets ignored. All the social distancing issues are ignored. All the ppe requirements are ignored. Now it could be that the trolls just see us as an easy target, hence all the forlough calls. So as a union member, I am requesting that teachers do not have to explain themselves on other threads as we are just fueling the fire. (I have been guilty of this).

So I am calling for a union boycott!

@Asuitablecat Excellent. I had to log a whole bottle of Pinot and a box of After Eights on My Fitness Pal yesterday. Shameful

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 19:59

I fancy a Dominos Grin

Ihavenoregrets · 21/04/2020 20:01

@Piggywaspushed STOP IT!! I am going to cave....... I just cant. I need to shift three stone and lockdown is not helping. My fridge is yelling at me 'WHAT...NOW WHAT DO YOU WANT????' each time I open it.

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 20:01

Dominos are running a much slimmed menu which is probably a good thing. No New Yorker = less temptation.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 21/04/2020 20:01

@DrMadelineMaxwell - thanks heavens you have made it over safely. You are most welcome

Asuitablecat · 21/04/2020 20:03

I never log the bad stuff😀 maybe that's why it never works!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 21/04/2020 20:04

@Zogsbigsister - thank you for your support. Your kind words mean a lot with all the bashing threads about.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 20:04

I succumbed to the dreaded virus early doors and lost half a stone. It has nothing else to recommend it , mind.

Asuitablecat · 21/04/2020 20:05

Every day, I tell myself I'll have chewing gum straight after lunch. Then I wolf loads of cake, then remember I was going to do chewing gum to stop meHmm

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 20:12

My dinner was two slices of toast with chocolate spread. Because I couldn't be arsed to cook.

I haven't logged it, either. Perhaps some Wine and Cake for dessert?

Ihavenoregrets · 21/04/2020 20:18

@SallyLovesCheese I was that desperate for chocolate one night I shoved a massive spoonful of dry drinking chocolate powder into my mouth, choked and spluttered on it and a load came out of my nose... I realised then I had a serious problem.

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 20:24

Regrets, that must have been an eye-opener. I have similar experiences in my past.

I've recently re-discovered chocolate spread and it's a slippery slope, that's for sure. Thanks to Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin', though, I am now managing completely not to want chunky KitKats (and most other chocolate bars) and feeling fairly proud about not having had any for about two weeks now.

DBML · 21/04/2020 20:47

You’ve al just made me order a Dominoes pizza (well two actually) 😔

Asuitablecat · 21/04/2020 20:50

Dh gives the kids ice cream with a blob of nutella on. It's not quite Ice Magic, but it works for them.

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 20:51

Oh my god. Ice Magic. Now that, I could (and would) drink straight from the bottle... Blush

pinkrocker · 21/04/2020 20:52

You can make ice magic by mixing melted chocolate with (edible) coconut oil! Sets on ice cream instantly Grin

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 21:06

Pink, does it have that gorgeous, slightly caramel-y, thick taste that Ice Magic had? I wish they still made it.

pinkrocker · 21/04/2020 21:23

I'll find you the recipe. I'm a food tech teacher and we were going to make it in our last practical lesson before we broke up for Summer hols Sad

pinkrocker · 21/04/2020 21:25

Here you go Grin
INGREDIENTS
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons coconut oil measured when solid
INSTRUCTIONS
Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 20-30 second increments, making sure to stir very well after each increment, until completely melted and smooth.
Allow to cool for a few minutes, then top on ice cream of choice.
NOTES
This recipe will make 3/4 cup of magic shell, which serves about 4-6 people GrinGrin or one big spoonful
Store in an airtight container at room temperature, stir well before topping on ice cream again.

Asuitablecat · 21/04/2020 21:33

That's a Brownie or Cubs badge in the bag😀 I made them make omelettes tonight. But that's more fun.

bettybattenburg · 21/04/2020 21:36

A thread about quiet hospitals has a whiff about it.

Not seen that one yet but I did see on the news site (BBC?) that one of the Nightingale hospitals has only treated some 40 patients due to a shortage of ICU nurses.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 22:17

Yeah when they opened those people thought extra nursing staff would come form somewhere. In fact staff form the 'sending' hospital need to go with patients. Understandably, that hospital is not keen always to lend its staff...

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 22:35

Thanks, Pink!

Serves 4-6? I reckon I'll beg to differ on that front! If only I hadn't scoffed all the chocolate chips last night...

pinkrocker · 21/04/2020 22:51

4-6 yes! not a bleedin' chance Grin

Downton57 · 21/04/2020 22:57

I'm still crying with laughter at someone's comment that recently retired teachers might be keen to return to the chalkface. Not even during a normal school year, but during a fricking pandemic.
