Honestly guys we are getting a kicking on other threads. We repeatedly have to explain our contracts, holidays, why we are not doing more online, why we should be doing less on ...... it is never ending. So far we have been off for the Easter break plus a max of two weeks. There is a lot of the population that do not need childcare. We are open for key worker children but that gets ignored. All the social distancing issues are ignored. All the ppe requirements are ignored. Now it could be that the trolls just see us as an easy target, hence all the forlough calls. So as a union member, I am requesting that teachers do not have to explain themselves on other threads as we are just fueling the fire. (I have been guilty of this).

So I am calling for a union boycott!

This is such a good thread. I read it every morning and evening. It's really helping because you do sometimes wonder if everyone hates us as much as it seems reading MN. But there are some lovely words of support and they help too.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 21/04/2020 17:18

I loved the list Appuskidu!

Thanks for creating such a great space to relax all.

It is hell out there. I can’t believe the new one about the Torygraph article. Bloody hell.

RigaBalsam · 21/04/2020 17:39

Agree Belle.

Doctors are saving lives so teachers should have courage. Lots of cognitive dissonance going on.

Mmmm cake. Grin

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 17:47

That's a good thread though. The article is vile. The thread is supportive.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 18:00

madeline needs to come over. She is getting an unwarranted lashing in a staffroom thread.

A post by grasspigeons re parent emails on there would be hilarious if it wasn't true...

FrippEnos · 21/04/2020 18:20

From another thread NHS workers' call to 'keep teachers safe'

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 18:28

That was in The Guardian today : it's interesting how little traction it is gaining compared to other reporting.

Thank you NHS workers! Star

mogloveseggs · 21/04/2020 18:49

Not a teacher but very appreciative of what you're all doing.

I've had 2 lovely, invites to come hang out here due to getting a bit of a kicking on my thread about setting work that doesn't get done...that thread went sideways quite quickly!

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 19:08

Welcome!

ChloeDecker · 21/04/2020 19:12

Piggy it is later. Wine get that down ya love! Incidentally, I shall read a Mog book to my DC this evening!
So pleased to see that you have found this thread DrMadelineMaxwell. Gin I think this is more than deserved this evening!

And Piggy for the first time in forever Grin my eyes have got a bit leaky reading that NHS open letter story.

Zogsbigsister · 21/04/2020 19:13

I’m not a teacher but an nhs keyworker (single parent). The care and compassion shown to my child by her teachers has been staggering. I thank you all.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 19:16

That's lovely zog. Thank you.

phlebasconsidered · 21/04/2020 19:24

One of my class made me a cake today and sent me a picture of them eating it for me. The thought was there!

Ihavenoregrets · 21/04/2020 19:26

@DrMadelineMaxwell It is a real shame teachers cannot post in this forum without pissy parents constantly jumping into threads. I did post a response on your thread but it my have got lost in all the derailing that was going on. I logged on today to a lovely message demanding to know when I planned on marking a student's assessment that had been submitted the last day of term [before Easter holidays]. I have nearly 300 to mark.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 19:36

300 Shock Shock emergency Gin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/04/2020 19:39

Oh, and I bring cake. I think we all deserve some.
