How will the NQT year be affected?

Does anyone know how the school closures will affect passing the NQT year?

I don’t think anyone knows for sure but as long as you are working from home in whatever capacity that your school has set up then I would argue that you can demonstrate that you are meeting the induction standards.

I’m really concerned about what this means for our trainees, however.

@EstebanTheMagnificent Our school had two trainees start with us for their final placement on Monday. I feel gutted for them.

Had an email about this earlier. Can't copy and paste as it mentions authority so is outing ... basically of mentor report as normal for this term and it suggested it will be waved through with some caveats about those in danger of failing. I don't think trainees need worry.

Oh and it also says working from home is acceptable evidence. Something to do with there always having been an exceptional circumstances clause so NQT period can be sorted. I imagine the same applies for trainees.

@Piggywaspushed Thanks for the info!

This is the information we received from the Teaching Regulation Agency today.

Note that the appropriate body has the option, with the consent of the teacher concerned, to reduce the induction period which the teacher is required to serve to a minimum of one school term if they are satisfied that the teacher has satisfactorily met the Teachers’ Standards. The appropriate body should make this decision in agreement with the NQT.

We’ve had different advice. If total non teaching time (& this includes shut down child care) equals 30 days or more then NQT period will be extended.
