Struggling - looking for tips

Hi Smile

I teach secondary and hold a promoted post. My wonderful Nana who I am very close to is seriously ill at the moment and has been in hospital for the last week. Posting the full details would take forever but essentially, she has had cancer for a number of years which has spread. She has other conditions too, some are linked, some not.

It very much looks like we are at the stage of approaching end of life and I am absolutely devastated. There is nothing more the medics can/will do (which is absolutely right but hard to take none the less).

So, I am visiting daily and speaking with nurses/doctors etc. I am also working full time and have my own child (I am married and my husband is taking the load at home). I'm doing the best I can but feel like I am doing a crap job of everything.

I am not sleeping well so I am exhausted Sad

Has anyone been through similar? Any tips for staying sane amid the chaos?

First of all, stop telling yourself that you are doing a crap job. You are not - you are doing the best job you can given the hand dealt you.

Take every day as it comes and then every hour and then every minute.

If you need to, go to the doctor and get signed off (you sound incredibly stressed).

Most of all, please be kind to yourself. Take care x

Thanks mamasandpapas it is stressful but I think, as you say, it's just taking it a day at a time and realising there is only so much I can do.

I have told school and to be fair, they are being absolutely lovely so at least I have that support.

I'm just so tired at the moment.
