And if so, what has your school's response been?

Whilst nobody is being tested we'll never know.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/03/2020 13:05

There's a lost somewhere else about a local head teacher diagnosed and the whole school has shut.

But if they're stopping testing, how will we know?

I've posted elsewhere, we've got loads of staff gone off this week most with the symptoms listed. There's a confirmed case locally, but no one has been tested so we're carrying on with a skeleton staff for now.

CallmeAngelina · 14/03/2020 13:11

Were parents informed? If so, what was the response?

Since they're only testing people who've been admitted to hospital we can't possibly know. We've certainly got a lot of staff 'self isolating' with colds or temperatures since the announcement was made but they could just have colds.

CallmeAngelina · 14/03/2020 14:08

But are the parents of the children aware thrat those staff members are self-isolating?

The public have been told that anyone with a cough or a temperature should self isolate so I would have thought parents could work out for themselves that this will inevitably also include school staff.

noblegiraffe · 14/03/2020 14:45

We had staff who had to self-isolate with symptoms on return from an Italian ski trip after half term. Parents and teachers were not informed (although we obviously found out on the grapevine). They all tested negative and returned to work.

I would assume that we now also have staff and students off under the new guidelines but wouldn’t expect to be told.

Staff have been informed (in our place) but not parents. Staff member really quite unwell with textbook symptoms, although not been officially tested as they're not doing them routinely, it seems.
What about the children they've been teaching, a couple of whom have quite serious health issues?

I think so but the school aren't telling us anything Angry
My job share is off with a fever and cough and not expected back any time soon. We co-teach one day a week so I see her often and am in close contact all day.
