Inspirational reading for trainee teacher?

Hello everyone

I am in my forties and re-training as a primary teacher (through Teach First). I will be in school from September.

I would love any recommendations for interesting or inspiring books or articles you have read about teaching. On another thread Lisa Delpit's 'Other People's Children' was mentioned, for example. I'm interested in subject-specific reading as well as general pedagogical theory.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know anything about primary, but I always recommend joining as many relevant Facebook groups as possible to our secondary trainees. Twitter is also good for interesting ideas.
I also like the Education Endowment Foundation EEF.
During my own training I was recommended “How to make friends and influence people” - it was needed at the time.
I can also recommend “The Daily Stoic”, which has definitely helped me stay sane over the last few years.

I'm a TF tutor and recomend the hillbilly elegy. It is about deprivation, not teaching, but you will hopefully find it interesting and relevant to your training and placement school experiences.
