Had a terrible end to my day where four YP disrupted the entire lesson. Called a member of management to read them the riot act and it made no difference. I ended the day crying at my desk.

Acutely feel like our local authority inclusion policy is at odds with the expectation of carefully planned and executed purposeful learning experiences. We're being set up to fail and when we do, it's our own practice that's being questioned.

My husband is nursing me as best he can but he doesn't really get what it's like.

Wow that's a garbled bunch of nonsense right these.

Part of his nursing is bringing me endless G&Ts. You'd never be able to guess 🤣

So sorry to hear about your rough day. Hope you're feeling better today and can enjoy your weekend. Thanks

local authority inclusion policy

The idea that pupils with serious issues or discipline problems will be fixed if only individual teachers work harder or are more inclusive is, I feel, a major reason why we are now so short of teachers.

You don’t deserve to be treated like this at work, it is a failing of those above you that you are.

Follow up with the senior leader on Monday; they need to speak to these students again and some kind of action/review needs to take place before they come back in your lesson. I'd write it in an email over the weekend, making clear your expectations, send it on Monday morning, and then go to see the colleague to ask for their plan of action. Insist and get your Head of Department on board too.

Tbf my line manager and SMT are excellent and will definitely have my back. A member of management came to check in on me in my room; my HT chased me down the hall when he was in a meeting to ask if I was okay and said he'll catch up about it on Monday; my HoD has already text to say she's going to step in on Monday too They're looking at moving some of the individuals out of the class because it's a terrible combo of individuals. Fuck knows where they'll go though, they're awful everywhere :/

I hear you. I regularly have to evacuate my class around some inclusive students and all it does is disrupt teaching, make us all feel shit and do nobody any good. Inclusion is failing for many ebd students and it's failing the others in the class too.

I don't know what the answer is. It's just that no teacher should feel safer and happier when some kids are off sick. But I do! I breathe a massive sigh of relief sometimes!

Our school is being held to ransom by 3 older boys on a daily basis. I get my class changed for PE only to find the area to the hall is in lockdown because one or more of them has kicked off. They strut around the corridors and stay in the toilets shouting foul abuse at other pupils and staff and know they are untouchable due to our LA's zero exclusion policy.

Today they called members of staff "fucking pedo cunts" and nothing was done about it. I despair.

Chochito · 21/01/2020 20:23

Corneliawildthing That's terrible. I'm so sorry.

Corneliawildthing · 21/01/2020 20:41

Thank you Chochito I think there is going to be a mass exodus of older, experienced staff in the summer. We've realised we don't want or need this shit in our lives any more. It's a shame because I like my class of little ones. We're told we all have to play a part with these boys, but if I see them doing something they shouldn't be doing, I just let it go rather than face a tirade of filthy abuse Sad

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2020 20:46

When I read your post Choc, I assumed secondary. But you mean those kids are primary don’t you? Bloody hell. Have they only just joined the school?

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2020 20:47

I mean Cornelia.

Corneliawildthing · 21/01/2020 20:49

Noble two of them are 10, the other is 11. They have all been here a few years now, but all came from other schools.

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2020 21:39

Blimey. Old enough to have the police involved?

Corneliawildthing · 21/01/2020 22:01

Yes, but the HT won't go down that route. When he contacted the LA he was told we weren't meeting their needs so we had to ensure that we did Hmm
