Living in catchment. Issues with ex students.

Long story very short. I used to work at our local secondary. Have been the victim of some 'very low level' (not from my perspective) antisocial behaviour committed by kids I used to teach.

Police involved, kids identified. School not getting involved. At all. Rubbish responses that I know are just waffle. Do I have any avenues available for a more robust response/action from school? Worth union involvement?

Are the students still at the school?

Yes they are

The school has responsibility I would think as the pupils are using a school-based relationship to harass you. Involve your union, but go to region not school rep.

That’s a tricky one, but I would argue that they can’t just discharge their duty of care here. Definitely contact your union at regional level.

It should be written into their behaviour policy that they will enforce sanctions if the behaviour of their pupils brings the school's reputation into question. Issues while wearing uniform would definitely fall into that category

Do you still work at the school?
Do the students still attend the school but you taught them in lower year?
Where do you work now? Another school or same school?

If you are at same school as perpetrators harassing you, the school has a responsibility to protect you and Union/school should be involved and considering sanctions against those pupils

If now separate schools, it makes it less clear.

Get cctv definitely.

I am assuming The police are dealing with it, do they have enough evidence to charge? Have they discussed harassment charges with them/you? If they have clearly identified perpetrators and course of conduct , the police can be reminded to charge as what is minor damage in terms of criminal damage to property, could be a course of conduct amounting to harassment which is more serious. And only requires 2 (even minor/turn up at your property/touch your stuff) incidences after they were warned by police. And would come with bail conditions and possibly a court imposed restraining order if convicted. CCTV will help you.
If you disagree how police dealt with it, as a victim you have right to request review, contact the Sergeant of your local police neighbourhood team and use the word 'harassment' if it's still ongoing.
