Looking for another job

I'm a teaching assistant and looking for a different job. Do I be honest and tell SLT I'm looking and therefore get (unpaid) time off for interviews or do I say 'hospital appointment' etc.

Since you headteacher will be asked for a reference, it is polite to tell them that you are applying for other posts and to give as much notice as possible if invited to an interview.

It’s entirely normal in education to tell the head you are looking for jobs / attending interviews.
