Moving up pay scale within a year

Looking for advice, as a deputy on the leadership scale. As part of my appraisal, can I ask to move up a point on the pay scale even though I have been in my current job for less than a year?

It depends what your impact has been.

Thinking more generally here, what I would wonder is whether sustained impact can be shown as a leader in 1 year or whether there's a chance that it's a case of throw lots at some new initiatives, take the jump with no evidence of impact over time.

I'm sure you can ask and are entitled to ask though.
