Two Bank Holidays just before KS2 SATs

Putting dates into my lovely new diary has reminded me that in London many Year 6s will be out of school for both Thurs May 7th (Mayoral Elections) and Fri May 8th (VE Day Bank Hol).

Strategies needed for persuading parents not to book long weekend away (missing the SPAG papers on the Monday) or booking hols for whole week prior to SATs.

Yes, I know that if we've prepared properly then the last week shouldn't make any difference, but I'd still rather they were in.

This is really tricky, as you don’t want to add to the general SATs anxiety and get parental pushback in the form of “sod it, the results are only important for the school and nobody else anyway”...

I would suggest to give a reminder in the year’s first newsletter to all parents that holidays in term time will not be authorised.
