Kids sometimes say to me ‘Miss, this is boring’ and expect me to be devastated.

Instead they get ‘I’m a teacher, not a children’s entertainer, get on with it’.

Quite. And it's rare that entire class would think that anyway. Although it has been known when teaching the apostrophe to year 9. Again.
