(Lighthearted!)

So some of you will be familiar with the affliction known as Teacher Thigh. For those lucky ones who don't get this, Teacher Thigh is when your outer thighs are covered in bruises during term time from where you catch them on the corners of student desks as you move around the room. More likely in schools with class sizes too large for the room, and clumsy teachers.

I went for coffee with colleagues, assuming that I would recover from my bout of Teacher Thigh now that school has broken up.

I clonked myself on the low table trying to navigate to my seat with a latte.

Ffs.

Oh no! Even in the holidays we are not safe!!
No solutions- just sympathy. I know the problem well 😊

MoistOwlette · 24/07/2019 10:35

It's spreading! 😂

I used to have an actual dent in my right thigh from leaning against the edge of my teacher desk while teaching at the board. It was a particularly cramped classroom.

I moved classrooms and now it’s gone, but I had it for years and it took me ages to figure out what it was!

I bet if we asked other professions we'd be able to identify Nurse's Foot, Banker's Thumb, etc!

PS. Today is not going well. Just dropped a piece of furniture on myself. I think I am also just a clumsy bugger!

Back in the day of fast line printers you got programmers cuts on the first joint of your fingers from grabbing the papper just as another print started.

Back when I was a student nurse every patient had a footstool that was stored at the end of the bed and my shins were constantly covered in bruises from walking into them.

Gingernaut · 24/07/2019 15:46

I used to stack shelves with the aid of a two step stool.

I couldn't work out why the front of my lower legs were permanently bruised about half way between my knees and my ankles.

Turns out, when I was stacking the back of some of the lower shelves, I was standing on the lower of the two steps and leaning in towards the shelves. My legs were pressing against the edge of the upper step.

Yes!!!!!
Mine left me with huuuge patches of broken veins though. The same bruises in the same sodding place every time.
Poor you though. I hope that coffee was worth it!

OneOfTheGrundys It really was!

My ankle is so sore right now... I think I may be dying from a furniture-related injury...

Fellow teacher thigh sufferer too.

Mock exam paper cuts anyone? Tiny but lethal.

MoistOwlette · 24/07/2019 22:25

LolaSmiles YES. And so much worse after hand gel...
