NQT with no job :(

Hi everyone!

Well I've finally completed my training this week and will be an NQT in September. However, I haven't secured a job and there just hasn't been much. I'm so upset! I'm going to sign up with a couple of supply agencies but honestly, we're in the shit money wise.

Do you think anymore jobs will come up in September or will the next flurry be after Christmas? I'm so worried.

What did you train in and where are you looking for jobs?

OP - I was a mature entrant to teaching having trained some 7 years or so ago. I did 4 in a good school locally before, for many reasons which culminated at the same time, I went to supply. I learnt so, so much in my first term moving from school to school that I strongly advocate that all teachers should do a term in the first couple of years of their career. Don’t feel bad. Agencies need staff they can rely on and who will grab the bull by the horns day after day. See supply as an opportunity to learn classroom management and when you feel that’s working for you, start looking at longer term roles to get to understand what a teaching year looks like - give or take it is very similar in all schools. I am going part time next year in a school I know I love and am working the other days on day to day supply, supplemented with tutoring. You can make it work for you with the right attitude.
