I’d like to say I was alerted to this by a deluge of presents and cards on my desk, but actually it was because it was tweeted by Damian Hinds, asking people to send a card or video message.

£3.5 billion funding boost would be a great thank you, Damian 👍

But in the absence of that, here’s a Wine for teachers everywhere, not long till the summer!

I saw it on Twitter. Wish I had seen it before school so that I could have forced each and every child to say thank you to me as they left my stimulating lessons.

Thank you noble and piggy for all the advice you provide on the Secondary board.
(And thank you to all my DD's teachers, maybe especially her French teacher given she has no aptitude at all so it must be like banging her head against a brick wall.)

You are very welcome teen :)

'If you can read this, thank a teacher'. 1970s NUT brilliant slogan but showing my age. I would like to thank the lovely new supply teacher in our department today who wasn't covering this afternoon and offered to help me with the Y10 class from hell with some very challenging students. Blush I will get a thank you from some lovely Y7 students tomorrow and Friday because they always do. What time was the Twitter feed thingy posted out of interest?

Thanks Noble, so he is so out of touch he doesn't realise that students will be getting off buses, parents will be at work/ getting to work after the school run and teachers will be finishing preparation for the school day. Apart from all the financial issues, thanks Damian for thinking to remind the nation. Oh and not realising that social media is banned in most schools.

I wonder if this thread would have had more traffic if it were Kick a Teacher day.

I think it would be more full of traffic if it were in secondary. Smile

I am always fascinated by the timing of 'let's slag teachers off' threads. There seems to be a mid term hiatus and then two weeks either side of a holiday it ramps up.

The same does sort of go for children's behaviour, I suppose.

I’d like to thank the fromer teacher who took me on one side and told me I was actually capable of doing my A Levels after I’d crashed out of school and then met her again as a tutor on what was a YTS scheme. Thanks, Mrs Tempest! Flowers
