I’m starting teaching year 1 in September. I want to buy a laptop. My budget is £600 ish. Just for documents really. Need it small and light. Which one would you recommend?

The school will likely give you your own laptop with all the necessary software on it.

If you have to buy your own get a Chromebook. You can pick one up for around £200. Super cheap and you can still produce all the documents you need via OneDrive. I wish I'd have bought one instead of the expensive laptop I now have!

Another vote for a Chromebook here - love mine and lass than £200. I bought an Asus C300 online.

I haven't heard of any state school doing this for years.

I bought the Asus E203 64GB. I need to work on office documents, so could not get a Chromebook. The Asus was the lightest (under 1kg) and has a good deep keyboard for typing. It has little storage, so I got a 250GB SD card.

@sallud happy to be corrected. I'm in a private school where we get a laptop and an iPad so I'll consider myself very lucky indeed.

All our teachers get a laptop and we’re a state school. I’d hold fire before you’ve spoken to the school.

Ok, will do. Thanks for the advice
