School Office Admin Query

I work in the Office of a new school so we are always adapting our school systems/procedures as the school grows. Today I have spent hours scanning paper first aid and accident forms and adding them to an online system called Cpoms. What do other schools do? Do you add them to each child's record on Sims? Wondering if I should do that too but that will be even more time consuming.

I work in a prep school. No, we don’t add them to SIMS but matrons keep a record of accidents etc. SIMS only has records of health issues ie; Bobby is having allergy tests and he is allergic to xyz and has an epi pen, Fred is diagnosed as ADHD, not accidents. Surely they’d be better recorded in a book, but school nurse/matron would have this.

CPOMS can draw from SIMS if everything is in the right place.

I don't think we do add to SIMS but I'm a teacher so don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes. If parents want to query how an accident was dealt with at a later date, you can just search for their child on CPOMs.

I'd try and persuade the school to get rid of paper first aid forms and get CPOMs on all computers. That's what we've done. Whoever deals with a first aid incident enters it on CPOMs whether they're a teacher, TA, MDSA or member of the office team. Copying from paper forms onto a computer system must be very tedious.

We add it directly onto Cpoms, nothing historic has been scanned to add. The only thing that gets scanned are letters from paediatricians

Hi OP, I am lead first aid in our primary school, we decided last year that we wanted to go paperless with regards to first aid. We use an online system called medical tracker. It is a fab system that pulls from Sims every 24hrs so any new starters are on quickly.
We have all of our EHCP's on there, all incidents in school are sent to parents via email.
We don't use CPOMs for first aid.

Get rid of paper and get everyone to add to CPOMS directly. Don't also add to SIMS; thats double the work.

Owlettele · 19/04/2019 22:11

Do you work at my school?! 🤣🤣🤔🤔

Once cpoms has been populated once it will make life much easier as paper copies will no longer be needed. Massive job to start with though. I feel your pain.

Owlettele · 19/04/2019 22:12

Oh and no need to also add to Sims
. One place is enough
