Hello , fellow MNer escape committee.

Not me, actually (well, not today!)

At DH's school he has to give a full term's notice to resign. He breaks up tomorrow. HR haven't replied to an email he sent. Does a full term's notice mean resign tomorrow , or do you think he can hand in the resignation during the holiday?

I wouldn't chance it in the holidays. I'd say by close of play tomorrow.

Piggywaspushed · 28/03/2019 18:39

Hmmm... I tend to agree. Easier in the state sector where there are 'resignation dates'

I would say it has to be tomorrow. I really wouldn't chance handing it in during the holidays. It should however be outlined in his contract so might be worth double checking.

Piggywaspushed · 28/03/2019 18:54

It just says a full term's notice in his contract. He has tried to check with HR .

I have typed his resignation letter anyway, so he can hand it in, but it doesn't really give him much mulling time. other than the four months he has already spent procrastinating, bless him I think he has Stockholm Syndrome!

Definitely wouldn’t risk the holidays.

HR have actually confirmed it's 30 April so he should be OK.

Have you got that confirmation in writing?

likeafishneedsabike · 29/03/2019 11:49

Hi, my DH is also independent sector and on a term's notice. Our understanding is that you have to submit a letter of resignation on or before the last day of the term.
I hope his escape turns out well and he can de-institutionalise!

shishnfips · 29/03/2019 12:30

I'm independent too and we're always Last Day of Term.

We do , yes, shish ! Smile
