Interview lesson plan HELP please

I need to plan a KS3 lesson but I haven’t the foggiest where to start. Where can I find the broken down curriculum targets for the relevant gcse level?
Should I make handouts? PowerPoint? Use a website already done for me like bitesize? What are the does and donts?

When is the interview?

What have they specified they want you to teach? And have they given you details of the class?

And are you a pgce student?

Thank you bumbling yes they have told me what they want me to teach and what gcse level they are targeted at and what level they are currently at. So I’m trying to find online where I can get the info on what specifically I should be teaching and I only have two days I’m a HLTA but it’s my first interview where I have had to plan my own lesson from scratch and have no resources at home!

OK- which subject is it on? And is this therefore an interview to be accepted onto a pgce course or schools direct placement or something similar? If so then they're not going to be looking for perfection!

They probably told you the gcse targets to see if you knew how to pitch it appropriately, I would create your trip to three learning objectives first as a starting point. Then have a look on TES as there might be a resource on there you can use as a starting point. If not then try to have an engaging starter or 'hook' activity to begin with, then make learning objectives really clear to students, then a simple activity in which the students do most of the work, then some kind of AfL to check their progress eg true/false thumbs up/thumbs down quiz with questioning. That's assuming it's a 20-30 minute slot, if it's a whole 50 minute/hour long lesson then you might want to do some extra AfL again earlier point in the lesson as well.

With regards to what to create, I would stick to a PowerPoint. I would write a lesson plan with timings and justifications of why you are doing each activity and make sure the observer/s are given copies of this and a print out of your PowerPoint and other resources at the start of the lesson.

And make sure you have emailed yourself a copy of the power point in case your usb stick breaks/gets lost on the journey!

And then if you have time in between the lesson and the actual interview,make sure you have thought about how you could have improved the lesson having reflected on it and having actually delivered it. Quite a good thing to say is that of course if you had your own class for multiple lessons then you could get to know their specific learning needs and therefore could be more adept at learning how to challenge the most able and support those who need it.

But to be honest- they will mostly be liking to see how you interact with the kids and that you can explain things clearly!
