Permanent exclusions

Does anyone here have any knowledge about exclusion policies in Wales?

Who can overrule a decision to permanently exclude a teenager? And on what basis would this kind of decision be over ruled?

Thanks.

I am thinking this would be in the behaviour policy available on school website?
Check with your local authority. I am in England, am a governor in a secondary school, governors have a panel that all permenant exclusions ( we don’t have many - I can think of 4 in 3 years) that’s upholds / or not - I can confirm in my case we do look at all evidence presented carefully. Parents can provide representation at the hearing, in our cases a person from LA also present at hearing. Hope this helps

I have sat as an independent governor on permanent exclusion appeal panels - have you already appealed the decision of the school governing body?
