I have been offered a job - working 1-1 with a 4 almost 5 yr old with SN, in the Reception class at a our local Primary school

At the moment I work in a PreSchool have for along time now and wear a uniform.
I need to go shopping for work clothes and shoes/boots.

Im assuming clothes wise, it will be smart casual?

Could you give me some ideas please on what you wear.

Wear comfortable washable clothes than can be layered.

No sportswear or slogan t shirts.
No denim unless it’s smart and dark.
No short skirts that ride up when you bend down.
No low necklines or anything else that constantly needs adjusted. No vest or cami tops.
No leggings unless under a dress or long tunic that covers your bum.
No thin tights that will get ripped.
No extra long dangely jewellery that will get caught.

Do wear Comfortable flat or low heeled shoes or boots.

Some teachers like to wear some coloured clothes ( not all black ) as the kids often notice. But don’t worry if that’s not your style, you don’t need to be like a CBeebies presenter.

The general rule is that you shouldn’t be able to see up it, down it or through it.

For Reception, you need to get decent quality stuff that you can wash the daily stains out of without ruining! I like Fatface and Tesco, and keep an eye on Boden and Joules’ sales. I found Primark a false economy.

I woul wear trousers with either a jacket or cardigan. Smart casual is fine.

You'll need a warm coat as well, for outdoor learning and playground duty.

Pockets. Every pair of work trousers I have have pockets.

Thanks all went shopping yesterday day M&S, Tesco H&M,
Brought 4 pairs of trousers ( with pockets 😬) black and navy
Some thin crew neck jumpers in navy, grey and white
Some top/t-shirts in navy back and white
Pair-of flat navy loafers
Black brogues
That'll do for now

That sounds like a good haul. I’m sure you have other clothes already that will work with these basics.

I’m not very good with white tops, I’m too messy, but maybe you are more careful .

Have been decluttering my wardrobe this morning, and have found some other bits that will work as well,
The white top is simply to break up the black items really, underneath a cardie/jumper type thing I was thinking. We'll see how well that works Grin

I have gotten through 2 good quality pairs of boots in 2 terms so I would get another pair of shoes
