I have been offered a job!

A while back I posted about a job coming up and whether I should leave the comfort of my current post - wonderful wonderful department but shit management in a MAT that doesn’t know its arse from its elbow and is currently without a head and not likely to get on any time soon - and head for pastures new after 12 years.

Today I had the interview and was offered the post within an hour of leaving. Which I feel awesome about in all honesty.

I am heartbroken at the thought of leaving the people I work with but my mental health is suffering. I don’t want to dread going to work and some days I do. Nothing is done about behaviour as we can’t make decisions without consulting the MAT. It sucks.

I rest easier in the fact my HoD’s long term plan is to leave in two years and another colleague wants to go part time and another is planning to emigrate in a year. I also think about the fact we spend little time together outside of work in the grand scheme. They are friends and I bloody love working with them but we equally have our own lives away from it all.

God this is hard. It’s exciting but scary. But as my son gets older - he’s three this year - I’ll find it easier to work and to be able to do what’s needed. I also need to work out if it’s teaching I hate or the school I’m finding hard! Today’s school was great and the way it ran felt good. Maybe it’s time to just bite the bullet!
