Who do you ask for your reference if your previous headteacher has moved on from the school? Contact them at the new school or still put down old school for reference (do they have it on file?!)

I think you still put down the old school? They should have something on file I think, to say there are no issues with child safeguarding, and dates of when you worked there, amount of time off sick etc., whereas the Head who moved wouldn't necessarily have access to that information or be able to remember.

I've had this happen a few times. Each time I contacted the Head at their new school and asked if they minded being a reference. All said yes fine. On application form I put their name, current role and contact details, usually new email and in brackets added (Headteacher of ..... while I was in post there). I also asked Dep or Ass Head who was still at old school, as an additional back-up.
