Teachers' Pension

I'm going to be leaving teaching at Easter and taking a role at the County Council instead. I've been told I can opt in to the Local Government Pension Scheme, which I do want to do, and have been asked if I want to transfer my existing pension over to that scheme. Can I just leave what I've accrued in my teachers' pension in that pot, or do I have to transfer? Are there benefits to transferring it over?

Don’t transfer it! Leave it where it is and start a new LGPS. Your teacher pension is much better.

Yes leave it where it is. The teachers' pension is a way better scheme

Do not even think about transferring it.

No, no, no. TPS is gold standard.

Most LGPS are career average pensions now.

Thank you! Just got so confused with all the paperwork going on right now!
