Going off sick and nervous

For the first time ever I'm going off sick, as in exhausted sick.
After 20 years of teaching, I've been beaten.
Any advice please as the thought of going off is adding to how anxious I feel. The physical symptoms are endless.

You know the saying “happy mum, happy baby”? The same applies to teachers. You can only be a good teacher if you feel well, and you know this.

Take some time out to recover and think about what you can change so that teaching will work for you, you can’t just go back to the same old.

You need to think about you and devote your time to recovery or exit. I left teaching ( not through anxiety) but joined another public service and eventually left after 20+ years service due to PTSD. Be kind to yourself and decide what is important to you and your family.
I earn less but my MH is very very good and I'm very secure and happy leaving behind a stress-fest.
