....... apart from the extra money are you glad you became SLT? I'm deciding whether to apply for an SLT post. The things on my cons list sat the moment are not about the work itself, they're all about impact on my children, stress etc. I'm assuming I'll enjoy the work. Do you enjoy it? Do you have any regrets?
Incidentally I'm in secondary, I'm 53, don't want to be a head

I’m SLT non-teaching in primary and love it.
I was worried about coming out of the classroom as obviously that’s why I wanted to teach but it’s great!
Every day is completely different and there’s never a dull moment!

I think it really helps that all of our SLT members are easy going, fun and realistic. Quite often we close the office door, swear lots and then reopen it with a smile. It really helps to have that support network. It also shares the stress as we do lots of things together.
I don’t regret it at all.

I'm SLT and don't get any extra money!

I teach full time; what I like about SLT is feeling listened to and effectively being a voice for the staff, especially in terms of workload.

I am a data lover though!

I am a primary DHT,I really enjoy it,I like the variety am in class covering teachers regularly so still get to be in class.
Honestly the stresses are different than being a class teacher but not necessarily worse.
I waited till my kids were teens( single parent) and am in my 3rd DHT post .Don't want to be head. My current school is great ,so would advise choosing your school carefully.

Thank you for the replies. They confirm what I suspected. I think I'm going to go for it.
