I have accepted a new TA job to start after the Christmas holidays.
Can anyone help me with the notice period please, I thought I could give one month which included the Christmas holidays but my Head teacher told me I can only be paid until 31st Dec.

Are you a TA? Holidays don't count when handing in your notice. It needs to be 4 working weeks (term time).

Usually you would be paid from Jan 1st for a start after the Xmas holidays.

Yes I’m a TA. My new school are paying me from 7th January which means I will have a break in service if I’m only paid until 31st December at my current school. I will lose my service history, holiday allowance etc as I have been at my current school for 10 years.
I planned to hand my notice in on 6th December as that would be a months notice.

Most schools I've ever worked in have had 4 weeks notice for TAs. Check your contract and put your end date on your resignation letter.

Green book is one months notice so your date is correct. However local areas sometimes have variations so you need to check with HR, and if you're currently in an academy you may have entirely different rules!
