Hi. I'm thinking of applying for a maternity cover post that would very likely result in a contract ending in October. The post would provide fantastic relevant experience for quite a specific role relevant to my long term career plans (don't want to out myself by giving details) but would probably mean missing the boat for September jobs, which is obviously quite a big deal.
Is it a complete no-no to apply for another job whilst doing a maternity cover? And if so, are employees just expected to suck it up, in term of impact on employment prospects for the new academic year?
There are some specific details about the post / pay grade/ contract type that may be relevant to the answers, so if anyone wants me to PM them, I'd be delighted to chat.
