Applying for full time job but want a job share

I left my teaching post last year for a number of reasons, one being distance in that it was an hours motorway drive each way. I’ve recently seen a post that I would love to apply for but it’s full time and I desperately just want part time, 2/3 days a week.

Is it stupid to apply? I’m limited to jobs anyway because of a language barrier and the advert states there isn’t one for this position. Is it worth applying? Should I ask if they’d consider a job share before doing so or should I raise it if I get through the interview stage and am offered the position?

I did this. Applied for full time but when they rang to ask me to interview, asked if it could be part time. Was told no, asked them to keep me on file anyway. About 3 weeks later, another member of the dept wanted to drop down to 4 days p/w and the school offered me the extra day, went up to 0.6 at the end of that year as another person left.

That’s interesting keira thank you! I suppose if you don’t ask, you don’t get so you...

I had a 0.5 contract on a job that was advertised as full time. I phoned and asked first and made it explicit on application form that I only wanted part time. Good luck
