Assessing EAL children

We want to do a thorough assessment of a sample of our EAL children to set a baseline. We can then measure the impact of strategies we use. Has anyone used an effective assessment for EAL children?

I work with EAL children in a primary school and we track progress using NASSEA steps. The Bell Foundation and Solihull Council have good, step-by-step tools too.

If you find a good baseline assessment tool, I’d be very interested. I’ve cobbled together my own to assess speaking, listening, reading and writing. This one Milton Keynes looks like the sort of thing I do.
