Disgusting staff toilets- anyone else enduring the same?

Our staff toilets have always been a bit grim (smelly drains, rusty radiators, sticking taps and cracked mirrors) but over the last few years they have grown increasingly disgusting.
The toilets aren't cleaned properly, smears of all sorts of bodily produce on the toilet bowls that are there, sometimes for weeks. Toilet brushes grossly clogged and the other day soiled toilet tissue actually left on the floor.
AIBU this isn't what you'd expect from a so-called professional environment? I've complained to the Health and Safety person and cleaning contracts have been changed... they are still awful.
Should I write a passive aggressive notice and stick it in there? It's not just the poor cleaning, it's a few people who don't know how to politely use a toilet!
Is it just my school?!?

My friend in school once found a poo on the floor of the ladies toilets at our school. Staff only toilets.

Grim.

Notanotherinitiative · 21/09/2018 22:00

@SalveGrumio there's regularly a big turd just left unflushed and disintegrating in one particular toilet- must be a favourite. I can't get my head around why someone would do that?!?!

Our school have just built new staff toilets. However when do teachers ever get time for the loo?

Thomlin · 22/09/2018 06:42

Not this always happens in one toilet at my work too. I think there is something wrong with the U bend and the person thinks its being flushed away but it comes back. Just my theory as there is always a shit but never any bog roll, surely no one can bear to do one without the other?!

Obviously the cleaning needs improving and probably the toilets refurbishing (although there won't be any money for that) but your colleagues are leaving them in this state, cleaners shouldn't have to pick up soiled loo roll and I'd only expect school toilets to be cleaned once per day so the cleaner has no responsibilty for mess made during the day.

You should have a governor responsible for H&s, go to them if youre not getting an proper response from the person responsible in school.

Oh no, that's grim.

Ours are lovely. Big individual ones rather than cubicles in a shared room, so you can have proper peace. Cleaned every night and I've never found them in poor condition during the day. They have little chests of drawers in them so you can keep your bits and bobs in there. There is some toiletry bag rivalry. Current winner (IMO) has a sequinned flamingo.

But then, I do have the fortune to work in the loveliest school in the universe.

I feel your pain. We had ours 'refurbished' which included non-fitting toilet seats! They don't flush properly. There are manky toilet brushes and the toliets are never cleaned properly. I am nowhere near being a clean freak , but at least at home , I know where the dirt comes from!

I was at a university yesterday and the qulaity of the toilets and their cleanliness put all schools I have been in to shame.

Piggywaspushed · 23/09/2018 12:36

We also don't get toliet roll replenished until about 1 pm but aren't allowed access to any supplies ourselevs!

noblegiraffe · 23/09/2018 12:47

Our toilets are old and crap and there’s only enough water pressure to power one tap at a time even though there are two sinks.

But at least they’re clean, and they have massive dispensers so we rarely run out of toilet roll.

FellSwoop · 02/10/2018 22:00

Ugh. I hear you.
In my first school there was a teacher who was permanently hung over and always dropped a big booze poo first thing. Not what you need to encounter when you have rampant morning sickness!! Vom

CraftyGin · 02/10/2018 23:06

I’ve never come across this.

Dontfartbackinanger · 05/10/2018 06:43

Yeah it’s ridiculous. Ours are clean but often without hand towels or loo roll or hand soap. And frequently without all 3. Plus there are only 3 toilets for a 3 form entry school. Not helpful when I have a 10 min slot when I can pee and am 7 months pregnant

notsurewhatshappening · 05/10/2018 21:52

At my new school there are 3 cubicles. People talk to each other as they use the loo...I find this a bit disconcerting! Was used to individual loos and being left in peace for 2 minutes Grin

savagebaggagemaster · 05/10/2018 21:59

Mine has two tiny cubicles side by side which are so narrow there is barely enough room to fit my knees into the space! There is a visitor toilet which we can use, but you can hear the kids right outside the door - and sometimes the head. There really is very little privacy.
