Does anyone run this course? Any tips? Am considering it for a student who's been out of school for most of secondary.

I did it last year.

It’s fairly straightforward, with short Teacher-marked exams after each topic - mix and match, fill in the blanks, and short written answers. There are three sets of exams for each topic, so you can repeat them and submit the best.

The other thing to do are investigations in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Again, fairly straightforward, and those that need Teacher help can get it for lower marks.

This year, I am using Edexcel Entry Level as that is much easier to co-teach with GCSE (we are using Edexcel). The students do the same lessons and required practicals as the others, but every so often, they get to sit an entry-level paper. I don’t have to make a decision until making entries as to which specification they will be sitting.

AQA claim that their ELC is co-teachable with GCSE, but because of the separate practicals, it really is not.

We do it alongside AQA Synergy. Straightforward to administer. We have v small classes though, which helps!
