A child is following me on Twitter

Hi

Just after some advice.

A 13 year old is following me on Twitter (I'm about to start my PGCE). I don't know the person, she's geographically far away. However, from her blurb and Tweets she does seem very interested in my subject. She builds robots and stuff.

I have no problem with her following me and my account is purely a subject-based professional one. No personal Tweets go on there. All my Tweets are PG suitable.

Is this ethically OK? I am not following her, that does seem an uncomfortable step too far.

It’s fine.

Sorry, I think you're being paranoid.

CherryBlossom23 · 30/08/2018 19:46

Yes, no one is going to arrest you for it. People follow all sorts on Twitter, it's not like Facebook.

It's fine.
There's nothing against having under 18s on social media, just not your students

Thanks, just wanted to check

Its fine as long as you don’t know her. To be on the safe side don’t follow her or message her.
