Anyone else on tenterhooks for results?

I don’t teach A level, so still a week to wait for my pupils’ GCSE results. New syllabus, and single person department here, so despite plenty of fine tooth comb reading of all the literature, double and triple checking every aspect of the course and coursework requirements, ordering of every single revision resource and practice exam paper known to mankind and attending 3 training days for the new syllabus I am still nervous that I in some way missed something or have let my pupils down in some way.

I know in my heart of hearts I literally couldn’t have done any more, but pressure from above is such that I am a bit of a wreck about it all. Not looking forward to next week at all Sad

Primary teacher here with a dc waiting for GCSE results. If it's any consolation I know all the teachers taught their subjects - most likely some did this better than other. But, I am confident that the syllabus was covered and I will in no way hold teachers accountable if my dc's results aren't great. I see it as a reflection of how much effort my own dc put in.

I am of course very grateful and appreciative of what the teachers did but I do not hold them accountable. And neither should those applying pressure from above IMO. At this age it really should be on the students themselves.

I am for A level result tomorrow. I will not sleep tonight. I do this every year my mind just doesn't shut up and likes to replay everything and has me evaluated my teaching over the last year. Great personal reflection just wish my mind wouldn't insist on doing it now.

I've been up pretty much all night and saw the results as soon as they came on. They're good - better than expected, but no sooner than the relief strikes then it's back to panicking about next week's...

Also been stressing all night! Just looked at thankfully they have done really well! Picture across the school looks good too.

Now to wait for the next week!

Mine did well, thank god. I don't teach GCSE so I luckily don't need to stress about next week.

Well done to everyone's students!

The A Level results for my students and subject were good - slightly better than expected overall. Just one rogue result but luckily the first choice uni. has still accepted the student (and a re-mark may come up trumps, you never know).

Overall the school's A Level results were good, but several sad stories of particular subjects were many results were poor and have prevented students from achieving their firm - and some even insurance too - offers.

We had some CIE results for Year 11 earlier this week so only about 35-40% of their subjects still to come on the 23rd. Looking very good so far.

Well I know I have done all I can for my GCSE students and in the end it was up to them on the day, however I am quaking in my boots about my Ds's results. I will be in the car at his school awaiting.

Starting to feel very twitchy now. Its weird because I wasn’t at all worried about gcse until A Level results were out of the way. I had the most amazing group of kids this year, with just a few exceptions they worked so hard and were so fab that I can’t help but feel that if they haven’t done well then I’ve got the new GCSE totally wrong and have let them down. It’s so difficult to have any idea what the results will look like as my subject is on its first year of the new specs.

I feel the same @dumbledoresapprentice they worked hard and I worked hard and I just really hope that’s enough. New spec is so stressful, and the paper was hard, not awful but tricky, but as the first year it’s impossible to accurately predict. I hate being a single person department-No one in house to bounce ideas off etc.

Teacherlikemisstrunchball I can understand your worries and the difficulty of being the only teacher in the department. I will be in a similar position to you next year but this year was the last year of the old specification.

I worry every year, and every year, it's somewhere between as expected and fantastic.

There are often disappointments with individuals, but as said above, you can only do so much. Often, a poor grade is because a question was missed (English so some questions are worth a lot). Most kids do as expected or better.

I am worried for Thursday. I had a small group and I worked my socks off;unfortunately, only about half of them also did.Sad I have now left my school so will check results online rather than go in. It would be nice to go to my new job with some fair results behind me but who knows. I am intrigued to see if grade boundaries match those we 'made up' for the specimen papers!

I am feeling quite apprehensive. Am also a lone teacher for my subject, and had 2 groups. Some worked harder than others but am genuinely fond of each of them and would like them all to have done at least OK. But I teach French, and they were difficult papers, and my students weren't all that gifted. I just want to be able to look them in the face on results day.

I am feeling nervous for tomorrow Sad I teach science so first year of the new spec and the papers - Chemistry in particular were tough.

I worked hard for them but not sure it was enough. We did so many extra interventions as well - largely after school but they weren't well attended.

If the results aren't great then the first day back (INSET) will be miserable as the head's talk will be of the 'we all need to work harder' variety.

My Year 11s (final group ever for me) did BTEC so results are available today. They did well - phew! Particularly pleased I've had a year of juggling my main job (not in school) and this group as a favour for a school who accepted my resignation, decided not to replace me and then asked me to come back just to teach that group.

Am also bricking it for tomorrow. Second year of new English spec and it went well last year, but I still worry that I haven't done enough.

Absolutely terrified. Had 2 classes, left them in March to go on mat leave with whole syllabus taught but lots of revison/exam skills still to do. Have been out of the loop and missed last set of mocks so genuinely can't call it this year. I fear the lazy ones, which made up a bulk of one class, will have used my absense as an excuse to not revise much and will therefore miss their targets. New course, new grading structure for my subject this year too :(
