Private school working hour increase (Scotland)

My school (independent) is increasing our working day by 10 minutes (15 mins if you include activities) - I’m sure this takes me over my max contact time. Can they do this? I don’t want to be a jobsworth but I am a bit 😱 that they can add nearly an hour onto my working week! I'm not sure if the limits apply to private schools. Help!

It will all depend on the exact wording of your contract. Does that state number of teaching hours, or just timings of when you are expected to be at work?

I didn’t think private schools were obliged to stick to the max contact time of 22.5 hours. But they may have written your contract to match? You could ask your union rep. Are they planning to have you work longer without extra remuneration?
