I have an interview for a classroom assistant job next week and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips - it's been ages since I've had a job interview and I'm desperate to get this! Also the interview is only 10 mins long, is this standard? Any help is appreciated Smile

That seems a short interview. Is there an activity with children as well?
There was a very recent post with some great advice. The OP got a job!

No it's just at the local authority office, not a school so no task with the children either! Oh fab, I'll see if I can find it. Thanks

My advice is to be knowledgeable with the jargon which could be used a lot.

Make sure you are aware of the safeguarding and confidentiality type policies and jargon.

Read up on safeguarding and what you would do if a child disclosed information to you.

Why you think you would be good at the job.
Any past experience with children?

I got asked to give examples of when I’ve dealt with challenging behaviour and how I resolved the issue and also when I felt I’d made a difference with a child.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I'm hoping to go into teaching next year as my daughter will be almost 2 then so I'm really wanting to do well. I have lots of experience with children - mentoring, tutoring, support work, internships and volunteering in nurseries and schools as well so I'm hoping I've done enough! I will refresh on safeguarding and have a look at the jargon and other more recent things. Thanks Smile
