Returning to teaching and getting the wobbles!

I know I'm being ridiculous. I know that previously I lived teaching and actually was bloody good at it.
But I'm dreading putting my toddler DS into nursery, and my dds into breakfast club and after school club. And because I've been out of it for a few years I'm scared that everything will have changed, I will have forgotten how to do it, and I will make horrendous mistakes and ruin my kids lives!

Argh!!! I've already started having "those" dreams....

You are not being ridiculous but you will be totally fine! Once you are teaching you'll remember that you are good at it and it'll come back naturally.

Don't worry about your dc- they will adjust quickly like children do and will likely have a great time with their peers.
Are there any subject/curriculum courses you could attend to up your confidence before you go back?

Also be really proactive about being given time to get up to date. Make you HoD/Line Manager have meetings with you and go through new specs, then give yourself time to digest them. When you first have to mark anything important, get HoD/line Manager to moderate with you.
If you can set your appraisal targets as things that you need to do to get back in the game so that you can justify the time and money that you will require!

But most of all, remember it is the best job in the world most of the time

Good idea about appraisals, thank you. Do you think it would be unreasonable to ask for extra non contact time to get back up to speed / CPd? I have a meeting tomorrow so could ask.
