So, SATs over for another year, lovely party with the children on Friday afternoon, looking forward to a relaxing weekend and last week of term.
Headteacher arrives back at school just as I’m leaving at (a rare) 4.30 on Friday and drops the writing moderation bombshell.
Could the deadline not have been Monday, just to give us one measly worry free weekend?
Angry
I’m so done with being a year 6 teacher...

We were moderated last year, so I thought we’d be safe...

Guess what? On Thursday, my poor class have to be guinea pigs for next year’s Scottish P6 Reading paper! I’m not telling them until that morning...

Oh no that’s harsh! Poor things.

I am Y2, niot Y6. I wanted to know on Friday if KS1 was being moderated and was pestering the HT so I could find out before the weekend. I assumed we would be moderated as we were last 'done' 3 years ago. But she gave me the fabulous news that we are not being moderated and I left delighted at (a not rare) 4pm.

And that’s supposed to make me feel better how, exactly?! Envy

And this is one of the many reasons I teach in private. No sats.

Knackeredotcom · 23/05/2018 20:01

Yep, after cramming for sats after returning from maternity leave to a class who were not prepared at all- I’m also being moderated- totally fed up too!
Also had the joys of a staff meeting this week where one of the foundation subject leaders publically announced y6 have not done enough of this subject this year and coverage is not good enough.
Thanks for that...it’s funny when ever I offer to swap year groups nobody else will touch y6 with a barge pole!
So no advice sorry, just moaning in solidarity x

knackeredotcom your username is me! Sometimes a moan in solidarity is what’s needed!
The year I came back from maternity was the worst ever so you have my sympathy there.
Yes...funny how no one else wants year 6 isn’t it? I had to lead a staff meeting tonight about my specialism, knowing full well I haven’t taught enough of it because it’s been sats sats sats for a term.
