0.6 FTE...how do you work it?

I have been offered the inclusion lead role in my primary school, which I'm really excited about. It's non class based and my Head has said he's flexible with how that looks like in terms of part days/full days.
He also said I could even keep my current .5 (x5 mornings per week). However I feel I need to go with the .6 (which current post holder does) as I'll no doubt be realistically doing that anyway and do not want to be working at home for free!
So, sorry for long winded way of asking, I wondered if you anyone is on .6, how this is spread over the working week? Thanks

Many moons ago I did .6 . It did not work for me as it was spread a few hours every day of the working week. I ended up paying for full time child care with a part time wage. Sounds like your head is flexible though.

Yep-I’m a 0.6 senco and do Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. It works really well!

That's why I would like to get days thrashed out now, so I'm not doing too much. Was curious to see how others manage it.

Oh goodness...I was actually looking forward to the opportunity to study again! What was so hard about it? I've been told I'll get time to write assignments etc

Not senco but three full days. Blooming love it.

I think three days works really well. You are in school enough to be part of the team but not enough to feel you might as well be doing full time!

The reading for the assignments and then the referencing were probably the worst bits but actually writing the assignments was pretty stressful!!

I was given time to do this from home as well-it still took far longer that I’d imagined-I spent vast swathes of my Mondays ‘off’ doing it too.

The difference between what they expected for these assignments and the essays/dissertation from my first degree was massive-this was all about ‘critical thinking’ and they kept banging on about it being a level 7 masters course so the calibre was totally different to a first degree.

I always thought I was quite academic-grammar school education, first in my degree etc but this really wasn’t enjoyable! Maybe it’s working at the same time that made it so hard (the course was quite theoretical and didn’t actually ‘teach’ you how to be a senco) or maybe my brain has just melted since having children!!

I’m a 0.7fte SENCO in a primary. I teach all morning every day then have one afternoon PPA and one afternoon SENCO time.

I work 0.6 and do MWF - my job share does TuTh and I love it.

I do three full days; part days wouldn't work for me due to childcare. It's my preference to do Monday and Friday plus one more (currently Mon Thurs Fri). It helps with communication to be in at either end of the week. Another major consideration is when the majority of your INSET days fall; most of ours are Mon and Fri. In a role like the inclusion lead you will no doubt lead quite a few INSET sessions and you could end up coming in on a lot of non-contracted days if you don't plan your working days accordingly.

I do 0.6 deputy inclusion lead, big school with attached centre for SN. I do M,T and Th but come in on Weds mornings for SLT meetings! Will be changing that next year!

I like being spread out across the week so I’m only ever out 1 day before I’m back in to problem solve! I do come in on days off to lead training etc though or for important meetings. I try to avoid it if at all possible though!

I will also be doing the qualification next year, who are you going to do it with?

I'm yet to find out where I'll be doing the course. Am in South East so possibly Roehampton or Chichester..? Although rather alarmed to read how tough it is! I was looking forward to it, not so sure now...
