New full time job when youngest starts school

A job has come up at the junior school my eldest will most likely go to in September. My youngest will be at the infant school next door. Both have good breakfast club and we have a fab childminder for pick ups.

The junior school is large- 3 form entry. I'm currently teaching part time with a big commute. I'm considering applying for the full time job because:
I wouldn't be teaching my daughter

We could all arrive at school in the morning in the car in a parking space- big novelty as there is no public parking and current childcare arrangements are a nightmare
No commute means no wasted time
More money means I can afford a cleaner each week
I want to get my career back on track

However several family members think this is mad and I should take time off from teaching to settle my son into his first term at school. He is very easy going and meeting all expectations at nursery.

I would prefer part time and have enquired whether this is possible but I might apply for full time if not. Pay would be nice but we're OK on part time pay.

What would you do?

Go for it. This is a perfect opportunity to get back into teaching. I have taught my own children at various times even and it was fine. Now they are grown they often talk about it and very positively. If you were working in any other job your ds would be fine settling into school so will be here too.

Thanks. I like doing ppa cover but miss having my own class. I've made an appointment to meet the head and look around!

My dd2 is also starting reception in September and though she also is exceeding everything at nursery and exceptionally confident, I'm so so pleased that I'm part time so I can have two days a week to just be "mum" to my kids especially whilst the youngest gets use to school (and wearing a blazer!!).

Do what is best for you and your family, ignore any well meaning family members!

Personally I would take the job.
