Fire service and police had their pay cap removed in September
Today the nhs has had an average 6.5% pay increase agreed

Is it our turn soon? Will we finally be getting a real-term pay rise? Am I the only one rather excited that this may happen?

I heard Liz Truss on Radio 4 earlier saying that the situation with teachers was completely different to the NHS as heads had the ability to award pay rises. She didn’t say that they didn’t have any money to do this with though. She seemed to think we were all getting pay rises over the 1% already because of this.

So no breath-holding here.

NHS was 6.5% over 3 years

Schools are increasingly de-skilling a big part of their workforce by adopting ICT-based, fully scripted lessons, which anyone with a pulse can deliver. Happened in almost every secondary in my area for all of KS3 under one name or another.

If you think teachers will get a payrise soon, think again. Unlike pay 'rises' for the police and NHS staff, it's not a popular item on the agenda.
