Anyone else desperately counting down the days

I've had enough and I'm officially done. Friday and the Easter break can't come quickly enough! My class have been incredibly hard work and I'm not sure I can take another snotty email from SLT or about data reviews. This has been a short term that has felt like it's lasted a life time. Someone pass the gin! Surely I'm not the only one feeling like this?

Another week to go here. But still counting down

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/03/2018 20:35

I'm actually wondering how much longer I can do this for, and what the hell I'd do instead if I can't. I used to be a good teacher, but I'm constantly exhausted and on edge.

BettyBettyBetty · 21/03/2018 21:34

Same here. 6 working days left til the holidays!

LJdorothy · 21/03/2018 21:49

Utterly knackered. Hanging on by a thread. Totally demoralised. Can't see the Easter break helping. I can feel my stress levels at the prospect of starting a new term rising already.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/03/2018 22:48

2 more alarms to get up to here, then a glorious 2 weeks off.

It's been a short half term here, but it's felt like a VERY long 5 weeks. :0)

Timefortea99 · 21/03/2018 22:53

I think teachers are saints. I have no children so not much contact or knowledge of the profession but I really don’t know how you do it. Flowers

Screamingontheinside · 21/03/2018 23:00

You want to try working for the NHS with 5 weeks annual leave Hmm

WombatStewForTea · 22/03/2018 06:56

Screaming I'm not here to discuss whether teachers deserve their holidays on a subforum for teachers

SureIusedtobetaller · 22/03/2018 06:59

On my knees. Residential, parents eves, vile weather, been constantly ill. Had enough.
Feel like I’ve been an utter failure as a teacher this term too for some reason. Need to regroup during the hols.

Screamingontheinside · 22/03/2018 15:33

Wombat neither am I, just don’t see why you are moaning.

silverboggle · 22/03/2018 17:15

Screaming this might help you with your lack of understanding

MrsLandingham · 22/03/2018 17:37

Screaming, isn't there a nursing board on Mumsnet that you could post on, rather than baiting exhausted teachers on a teaching board Hmm

Screamingontheinside · 22/03/2018 18:30

I can post on whatever thread I like thank you. The Nhs is not just made up of nurses either Confused

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2018 19:03

To get back to the point (teaching in a a school) , our kids have been swines all term. there is no five weeks of good stuff followed by a couple of mad weeks anymore. They are just little sods the whole time. Not all of them. But enough.

TheFallenMadonna · 22/03/2018 19:05

I work on alternative provision and while are students are always challenging this term has been quite something.

TheFallenMadonna · 22/03/2018 19:06

Our students. Our.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2018 19:07

I always say 'this is the worst term' and then forget. It's like childbirth. You forget how shit it is until the next time it happens.

WombatStewForTea · 23/03/2018 07:15

We had ofsted too which went really well but the post-ofsted glow has well any truly gone!
I just need to get to 3.15 today. Good luck to those of you who've got another week to go!

I am leaving at Easter and cannot wait Grin I don't plan on entering a classroom again for a long time, if ever.

Stillgameforalaugh · 23/03/2018 07:54

I'm exhausted. Utterly. And I have an easy job in that I'm part time.

ssd · 23/03/2018 08:00

I for one am really grateful for all you teachers and NHS workers, we know its a bloody hard job and the gov are making it harder for you all and it's bloody wrong.

Eatsleepworkrepeat · 23/03/2018 08:07

I work in the NHS and I still am full of admiration for teachers... It's relentless and I couldn't do it, that's for sure. Here's hoping for at least a couple of sunny days over Easter for you all!

hollytom · 23/03/2018 15:48

roses do you have plans on what you are going to do next? I am exhausted here yesterday wondering how much longer I can keep going with this career

Acopyofacopy · 23/03/2018 19:27

I am on my knees and actually contemplated just walking out of my utterly vile Year 9 class today and never come back. 3 more days.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/03/2018 19:48

I have very nearly walked out several times in the last three weeks. Things have definitely got worse.
