I've worked in an Indy before so I though I knew the protocol but applying for a new job and they're asking for a letter of application, CV and application form.

Fine but the application form has a space for the personal statement? So do I do a brief executive summary type covering letter and a full personal statement or a full covering letter and a brief personal statement? Or both??

I don't want to do the wrong thing! Confused

Hopeful bump! My kids are napping and I want to get a good chunk done!

The extra CV seems a bit much.
I would go for 2 page letter, at the most. I update my CV quite a lot so it is fairly long but should be quite brief. I would spend more time on the statement.

Thanks pug. CV is done, I agree it's too much!

But trying to figure out what to put in the personal statement box on the application form when I'm doing a letter of application as well!

How about you do the letter of application saying why you're interested and in the personal statement describe yourself and why you're super/highlight your main career achievements?

I'm sure all it means is they have added one of these components without actually thinking it through regarding the repetition.

Letter is general overview of what you've done and why you want the job. One side MAX.
Personal statement is in depth (look at the job spec and tailor it to that) giving examples of what you have done in all sorts of areas at your current school/previous jobs which make you good for the specific job you're applying for.
CV is 1-2 sides max and more just listing qualifications, brief sentences explaining job role or key achievements but much more just a summary
