Stupid Q but do you only attend insets on your working days?

You absolutely only need to go to inset on days you're in work.

Yes I thought so but I had to do a parents evening on a non working day so needed to confirm.

You don't have to do parents evenings if they are on your day off (although I can see why you would want to!)

You can't be compelled to do a parents' evening on a non-contracted day, but your school can still expect you to make contact with those parents. I took the view that it was more efficient to go in for the scheduled parents' evening than to spend hours and hours phoning all of the parents that I would otherwise have seen for five minutes each.
